Finance Department
Collection of Revenue
The Finance Department is responsible for the collection of revenues for:
- Alarm permits
- Animal licenses
- Building permits
- Business licenses
- Metra parking permits and debit cards
- Parking tickets
- Water, sewer, and SWANCC bills
Other Responsibilities
Other functions of the department include purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, billing, financial reporting, budgeting, and liability insurance.

Amusement Tax
The Village imposes a 4.00% gross receipts Amusement Tax on any event, activity, exhibition, performance, presentation, or show for entertainment purposes, to which an Admission Fee or Charge is imposed.

Property Taxes
Real estate assessment services are provided by Wheeling Township, and the taxes are collected by Cook County.

Restaurant / Eating Tax
There is a 1% tax levied on gross receipts received for the sale of prepared food and beverages sold at retail at "Restaurants and Other Places for Eating."

Sales Tax
The State of Illinois and other taxing districts, including the Village of Wheeling, levy a tax on the retail sale of tangible personal property.

Schedule of Fees
The annual adjustment to the Schedule of Fees and Charges is effective January 1st of each year and is based on the change in the Consumer Price Index.

The Village is divided into 2 districts for water and sewer billing purposes, and each district is billed bimonthly.
