A number of successful and noteworthy projects that have taken advantage of Wheeling’s desirability as highlighted below.
Wheeling Town Center Becomes a Reality
The $110 million Wheeling Town Center is located in the heart of Wheeling. This transit-oriented development serves as Wheeling’s downtown anchor which is immediately adjacent to the 100-acre Heritage Park, Wheeling Park District Gym, Community Center and Aquatic Center, Wheeling Metra Station, and Wheeling’s municipal campus. The Wheeling Town Center features 301 luxury apartment units and 100,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space. The anchor tenant, Cinergy, is a state-of-the-art movie theater that includes a restaurant and bar located in the lounge of the theater that is open to the public. City Works Eatery and Pour House, Starbucks Coffee, Inland Bank, and AT&T opened their doors in 2019. A number of restaurants opened in 2020, including Eggsperience, Mia’s Cantina and Arctic Spoon, as well as 312 Nails. Some parcels are still available for build-to-suit.
A $90 Million Mixed-Use Development Rises at 500 W. Dundee Road
Uptown 500, located at the northwest corner of Dundee Road and Northgate Parkway is nearing completion. This $90 million, transit-oriented, master-planned, mixed-use development is one block north of the Metra station and across the street from the Wheeling Town Center. Uptown 500 includes 321-unit luxury apartments and over 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail. The units have been attracting young professionals, while also catering to a growing interest for those downsizing and looking for maintenance-free residences close to the train station, restaurants, and service amenities. A New Mixed-Use Development is Coming - London Crossing at 889-901 W. Dundee Road
London Crossing is currently being developed by Wingspan Development Group and will include 55 row homes and approximately 33,000 square feet of commercial/retail space on an 11-acre site adjacent to London Middle School. A new School District 21 Administrative and Community Center has already been constructed. The project is taking shape and will be a welcomed addition to the Dundee Corridor.

The property is zoned B-3 and is owned by the Village of Wheeling which can accommodate two restaurant uses or a combination of other uses. It is located in the South Milwaukee TIF District. Hospitality & Commercial Opportunity at Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue
This premier property is zoned MXC, which can encompass a mixture of uses such as commercial, retail and hospitality. It is one-half block west of the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel & Conference Center and high-quality restaurants such as Saranello’s, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, and Boston Fish Market. The property is within the North Milwaukee Avenue TIF District.
