Trick or Treat hours are Saturday, October 31 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m

Trick or Treating is currently discouraged by the CDC due to concerns over the spread of COVID19.  Those who do not wish to welcome Trick or Treaters at their home should keep outdoor lights off.  Although Trick or Treating will be allowed in Wheeling this year unless otherwise prohibited by the State, the Village cannot guarantee the safety of those who choose to participate.

For Trick or Treaters

• Attend the Wheeling Police Department’s socially-distanced “Ghoul’s Out Trick or Treat Pick‐up of Ghastly Goodies” event on October 31 from 3-5 pm in the Village Hall parking lot.
• Attend the Wheeling Park District’s socially-distanced “Boonanza” event on October 24. Visit  www.wheelingparkdistrict.com for details.
• Do not participate in trick or treating if you are or a member of your household is not feeling well, if you have recently returned from a hotspot state, or if you are awaiting the results of a COVID19 test.
• Wear a mask and travel only in small groups, preferably only with other members of your household.  While walking down the street, maintain a social distance from other groups.

Ideas for Safer Treat Distribution

• Place a candy bowl outside to avoid face-to-face encounters.
• Do not use a communal bowl, but instead create individually wrapped bags of candy or be the only one selecting and passing out the candy.
• Set up a table in your driveway or garage to hand out treats, and create six-foot distance marks with sidewalk chalk.
• Trunk or Treat” with treats stashed in a car trunk parked at the end of the driveway.
• Organize a drive-through trick or treat event in your neighborhood with candy being handed out at the curb.
• If you decide to hand out candy at your door, consider a motion-activated noisemaker to avoid Trick or Treaters having to touch the doorbell.
• Mark a safe social distance from your door where Trick or Treaters can stand.
• Do not distribute homemade gifts or food.
