About the Trustee

  • Length of Service: Elected to office on April 9th, 2013.
  • Birthplace: St. Vincent’s Orphanage, Chicago, IL
  • Family: One son/One brother/Extended family of one great guy with four daughters!
  • Occupation: Executive Assistant Intellectual Property and Litigation, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., Northbrook, IL.
  • Education: St. Mary’s in BG (8 years), Wheeling High School (Class of 1981).
  • I’ve lived in Wheeling: Since December 2003 when my neighborhood was annexed into the Village. I have lived at my address since 1963.
  • Hobbies & Interests: Gardening, music, and raising/training a Rottweiler.
  • I ran for public office because: I wanted to work with a team that is as passionate as I am about making sure Wheeling remains a great (and becomes an even better) place to live, work, and raise a family. I believe in community involvement because when we were annexed into the Village, they embraced us by listening. I am a good listener, too, and wanted to give that back to the community. I also felt we needed more positive energy on the Board!
  • For me, the most important thing about being an elected official is: Listening. Anyone can “hear” but it is an art form to truly listen.
  • My favorite Village event is (was): The old 4th of July Parade, fireworks & Taste of Wheeling festivities. I still love the Memorial Day Parade and anything where the Wheeling High School Marching Band is performing!
  • My favorite place in Wheeling is: Wheeling High School’s track and my back yard!!
  • When I’m not working, I like to: Garden in my yard, hang out on Jackson Drive, and walk my dogs.
  • I belong to: RED Center Board of Directors, National Notary Association, WHS Class of ’81 Reunion Committee.
  • In the next 10 years, I see Wheeling changing in the following ways: I see a resounding restoration in community pride. This Village is too diverse NOT to strive for that! I also would like to see the redevelopment of the old Wickes property/Dundee Road corridor into a vibrant location of residential, small business, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. A more viable Metra train schedule would certainly aide in the success of the Town Center.
  • Person who has influenced me throughout my life: My parents. They still influence me every day in spite of their passing.
  • My favorite quotation is: “If you want to run with the big dogs, you gotta get off the porch.” - Unknown
