The Police Department is divided into 4 divisions:
- The Patrol Division includes; Patrol, K-9, the Traffic Unit, and Community Service Officers..
- The Investigations Division includes the Criminal Investigations Unit, Youth Investigations, School Liaison Officers, Crime Analysis, and Evidence.
- The Administrative Services Division includes Records, Planning, Training and Research, Information Technology and Crime Prevention.
- The Communications Center includes the 911 and Dispatch Center for the Wheeling and Des Plaines Police Departments.
- The Social Services Division includes Social Services and Social Services for Seniors
